Ms. Nina Gera
Ms.
Gera is Assistant Professor in Sociology as well as Associate Editor of the
Lahore School Publications Programme. She has an M.Phil in Economics from the
Lahore School, an MA in the subject from Punjab University and a B.A. Honors
again in Economics from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Her
work experience is diverse, ranging from journalism, research work with various
organizations, field work in Karachi at the Agha Khan University and research at
PIDE and ILO’s APSDEP project. She has also taught Development Economics for a
brief period at the Punjab University.
She
is the author of a book, `Structural Adjustment Programs in Pakistan: A Boon or
a Bane?' published by the Lahore School of Economics Press, 2007. Her published
articles include `Food Security under Structural Adjustment in Pakistan', Asian
Survey, Vol. XLIV, No. 3 May/June 2004; `Impact of Structural Adjustment
Programmes on Overall Social Welfare in Pakistan', South Asia Economic Journal,
Vol. 8 No 1 January-June 2007 and `Social Sector Expenditures and Outcomes: A
Case Study of the Punjab in the 1990s', Pakistan Economic and Social Review, Vol
45, Number 1, Summer 2007. She is currently working on an article on the Multi
Dimensional Poverty Index.
