This Special Edition of the Lahore Journal of Economics has been compiled from the papers presented at the Second Annual Conference on Management of the Pakistan Economy held by the Lahore School of Economics from 2nd May to 3rd May 2006. The conference is held every year and is intended to contribute substantially to the teaching and research agenda of the Lahore School of Economics. At this second conference, eminent economists, policy makers, and policy experts presented their papers. The subjects for the conference were chosen keeping in mind their relevance for Pakistan’s growing economy. The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Taufiq Hussain, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, who made an insightful and valuable presentation. The audience included the faculty and students of the School in addition to other participants with a keen interest in this field.  This Special Edition is meant to disseminate the findings of this conference more widely at both the national and international levels.
